Welcome to Sacajawea Park for a CITO (trash pick up)

What is a CITO?

A CITO event like this stands for Cache In, Trash Out and is a trash pick up event. It's a great way to give back to the community and for some reason, always more fun than it should be to pick up other people's trash.

Specifics

This trash pick up event runs from 5:15pm - 6:16 pm so people can have time to get off work but still be finished before the light fades. Civil twilight on Monday February 21st ends at 6:37pm so no need to bring a head lamp.
Trash bags and vinyl gloves will be provided but you are welcome to bring your own gear. There will be some light refreshments at the end to motivate us through the cold. Speaking of cold, make sure to wrap up warm. This is Idaho after all and we don't know what the weather will be even the night before. There is a chance that a fresh layer of snow makes it hard to find and pick up trash but there is a good amount here. Even just around the trash cans, there is often a lot overflowing so we will be able to pick something up no matter the snow depth.
Hazardous, recyclable, glass, large, or heavy trash will be managed by the Portneuf River Vision who are helping us with this trash pick up event. All other regular waste will be taken by myself and a few other attendees that volunteered already to their own homes. There is no dumpster at this park during winter so we'll be hauling everything out since the garbage situation is already overloaded here.
