Geocache Description:

05 March 2023, 10:00 - 11:30

A CITO organised with Hampshire Countryside Services!

UPDATED INFORMATION

The litter pick is being split into groups and our CITO appointed Car Park is Stroud Pond Car Park. The CITO coordinates have been updated to Stroud Pond Car Park, which can be accessed from the A30. As the car park is small, timings have been staggered and we have been asked to arrive for a 10am start time. Please lift share if possible, and don't forget your TOTT if you have one.

We have been asked for people to sign in for the event so I will have a Geocaching log book and a signing in sheet (where you can indicate if you would like a certificate from the Rangers). The coordinates for the Bag Some Swag & Cake Flash Mob Event will be updated to reflect the adjusted site of the CITO.

The Rangers have provided the following information:

Maps will be provided to show the approximate area your group will be covering.

Litter pickers and bin bags will be provided with one litter picker between 2-3, so that they can take turns carrying the bin bag, however if you do have your own litter picks please feel free to bring these.  We advise that bin bags are not completely filled due to the weight – in most circumstances we ask for bags to be brought back to the car park, however if this is not possible they should be left next vehicle access tracks and the ranger should be informed so that they can be picked up later.

If you are able to bring your own gardening style gloves on the day that would be useful, we will have Nitrile gloves available but would prefer to limit the use of these as they add to waste.

Please advise your group to wear appropriate sturdy shoes and warm clothing, and bring waterproofs in case required.

The Rangers will provide a brief health and safety talk at the start of the event.  A risk assessment will be available on the day.  Main issues to note are:

Care should be taken when crossing Cricket Hill Lane (if applicable).

There is no need for any group to cross the A30 –this marks the southern boundary.

Bags should not be over filled and care should be taken when carrying heavily laden bags.

In the unlikely event that needles are found these should be left and a Ranger advised of their location.

The Rangers are First Aid trained and will have first aid kits with them, they will remain in the car park as a point of contact unless there is an emergency.

EMERGENCY:

In an emergency call 999, direct them in the first instance to your starting Car Park, inform the Ranger of the situation as they will be able to direct the emergency services onto site, and open up locks as required.

The Rangers must be advised of any injury that occurs during the event.

CERTIFICATES:

At the end of the session I hope to give each participant a certificate.

PHOTOGRAPHY:

I hope to take some photos myself, in order to do this I am required to get parental permission to take photos.  This year to reduce un necessary printing we shall only ask for consent forms to be filled out if photos of individuals are taken. Please let those taking photos on the day know if anyone does not give consent.
