Weber is a locality just off Route 52 - a scenic route between Waipukurau and Eketahuna which also runs past the place with the world's longest place name, Taumatawhakatangihangakoauauotamateaturipukakapikimaungahoronukupokaiwhenuakitanatahu. A short distance from Weber are the Waihi Falls.
The village is named after the German born surveyor Carl (Charles) H. Weber who went missing and died in 1886 while surveying near Woodville. In its day Weber had a police station with jail, one hotel, a post and telegraph office, with other Government departments, a public school, church, community hall and shops.

Weber also had a cemetery, located approximately 2 km north-west of the settlement. It contained around 51 burial plots with just under half of those being aged 13 or under. In 2013 a memorial to those buried here was erected alongside the road into Weber.
