Bai Chay Beach is an artificial white sand beach, extending over 2.5km from the VinPearl resort in the west, to Bai Chay lighthouse in the east.
Literally translated Bai Chay means "burned beach/area" (Bãi means area/beach and Cháy means fire/burned). There are some legends concerning Bai Chay and where the name comes from. One of these legends tells us the story that when Mongolian invaders tried to conquer Halong Bay, Vietnamese soldiers set fire to the ships of the Mongolians. As the fire was raging, a strong wind picked up adding fuel to the fire. As a result, the fire burned down the entire western side of Cua Luc. (From visithalongbay.com)
The beach area can be quite quiet during the day, but comes to life at night as many 'Beach Clubs' have loud music and entertainment on the beach. You can either go into the beach clubs, or there are small vendors nearby with seating where you can sit and absorb the atmosphere (and beverage if you wish).
The cache is hidden on the opposite side of the road from the beach, please use stealth as this place may get very busy. Please replace the cache exactly as found.
