The cache is located along the Lake Martin Loop Trail which surrounds Lake Martin, home to wildlife including alligators and birds such as egrets and herons. The trail is inaccessible from June to October due to alligator nesting season. Please respect and be cautious of wildlife while on the trail.
The Way of the Cross is a traditional devotional procession that focuses on specific events on the last day of Jesus Christ. The Way of the Cross breaks these specific events into 14 "stations" - the first beginning with the condemnation of Jesus Christ and the last ending with His burial. Each cache associated with The Way of The Cross will reference one of the 14 stations.
Although each cache is a devotional procession containing a prayer specific to the Christian faith, the cache is intended to encourage reflection and enjoyment of a beautiful and iconic part of Louisiana's natural environment - no matter what one's religious preferences may be.
This cache is the third of the Stations - Station 3: Jesus falls the first time
SCRIPTURE
From the Book of the Prophet Isaiah 53:4-6
Surely he has borne our griefs and carried our sorrows; yet we esteemed him stricken smitten by God, and afflicted. But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities; upon him was the chastisement that made us whole, and with his bruises we are healed. All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the Lord has laid on him the iniquity of us all.
