I began geocaching way back in February 2003 and the second time I went geocaching was to find the DOOWYLLOH cache. I found the first stage and continued up the trail to the final which I DNF'd at the time. This was a cool hike through what I thought this was just a undeveloped part of Griffith Park. I later even hid a cache nearby with Brainerd - the now archived Ooper's Cache.
Around that time it became known that the much of the area the hike traversed was private and the investment group that owned it was planning on developing five luxury estates on the property. The community who hiked this trail was up in arms and soon the Trust For Public Land began raising the money needed to purchase the property. Many people, including yours truly, donated to the effort to purchase this property. In the end it took several wealthy donors who contributed large sums to reach the goal. This group of wealthy donors included one man whom they say had a great concern for the wildlife that inhabited these hills... especially the rabbits.
This simple two stage multi cache is set to honor this man who definitely loved the bunnies.
At the first stage, there are two plaques in honor of two of the large donors who helped purchase the property.
- A = number of letters in the first name of the person the Ridge Trail is named for
- B = number of letters in the last name of the person the Ridge Trail is named for
- C = number of letters in the first name of the person the Overlook is named for
- D = number of letters in the last name of the person the Overlook is named for
