Er entspringt als zwei Bäche in Niederösterreich, einer entspringt bei Fischau, westlich von Bécsújhely und mündet in die Lajta, der andere Bach, Fischa-Dagnitz, entspringt in Steinfeld, mündet in Piesting und mündet nach 38 km Lauf in die Donau bei Fischamend.
