Here on a summers evening the chances of seeing Lesser Horseshoe Bats, Rhinolophus hipposideros, are very high. They are one of the smallest bats in the UK, during the summer they form maternity colonies in old buildings and emerge to hunt for food in nearby woodlands.
Glynllifon is home to approximatley 300 Lesser Horseshoe Bats, this is about 6% of the UK population. It is a very important location as it is home to both a maternity and hibernation colony.
