Moram priznati, da že od nekdaj (zraven yugo rocka) zelo rad poslušam rap - takšen ali drugačen. Je pa res, da mi vsak rap ne sede preveč. Eminem je bil zame vedno odličen reper, saj so njegova besedila zelo sporočilna - le čas si je potrebno vzeti, da se usedeš, umiriš in potopiš v tisto, kar slišiš. Ko sem prebiral njegov življenjepis, sem se zavedel, kakšno srečo nas ima velika večina. Imamo skrbne, ljubeče starše, ki so nam večinoma ustregli v skoraj sem, kar smo potreboval ali pa tudi ne.
V filmu 8 mile pa je odigral tisto, kar se mu je dejansko dogajalo v življenju - vloga mu je bila pisana na kožo. Navkljub vsemu denarju in slavi, ki ju je pridobil kasneje, pa ostaja trdno na tleh, kar priča njegov odgovor na vprašanje, če se bo sedaj preselil v kakšno bolj glamurozno mesto:
"Mislite, da je človek srečnejši, če živi v hiši, vredni deset milijonov dolarjev? Živel sem v prikolicah, pod mostom, v luknjah, kakršnih si ne morete niti predstavljati, in zanesljivo vem, da sreča ni odvisna od tega. Moj življenjski cilj je, da se ukvarjam s poslom, v katerem uživam, da dočakam, da Hailie (njegova hčerka) postane samostojna in zadovoljna, in da jo gledam, kako se veseli življenja. Če sem iskren, je zame pomembna le ona. Očaran sem nad njeno močjo in značajem. Rad jo imam, kot še nikoli nisem imel nikogar rad."

I have to admit that I have always (besides Yugo Rock) really liked listening to rap - of one kind or another. But it's true that I don't like every rap. Eminem has always been a great rapper for me because his lyrics are very informative - you just need to take the time to sit back, calm down and soak in what you're hearing. Reading his resume made me realize how lucky the vast majority of us are. We have caring, loving parents who, for the most part, provided us with almost anything we needed or didn't need.
In the film 8 mile, however, he played what actually happened in his life - the role was written on his skin. Despite all the money and fame he gained later, he remains firmly on the ground, as evidenced by his answer to the question if he will now move to a more glamorous city:
"You think a person is happier living in a house worth ten million dollars? I've lived in trailers, under bridges, in holes you can't even imagine, and I know for a fact that happiness doesn't depend on it. My life's goal is to do a job I enjoy, to see Hailie (his daughter) become independent and happy, and to watch her enjoy life. To be honest, she is the only thing that matters to me. I am fascinated by her strength and character. I love her like I've never loved anyone before."
Most songs come from his life, which makes them all the more meaningful.
