In June 1778, George Washington’s 14,000 Continental Army engaged the British 20,000 Army in the Battle of Monmouth. This battle became the largest artillery battle in entire Revolutionary War.
The Craig Farmhouse was located right behind the British lines and became a British hospital to support the wounded British troops.

The Craig Farmhouse was witnessed this historic battle, Although the Craig house didn’t see fighting like the Sutfin farm, there’s an interesting story about the house: When the Craig family fled as the British approached, they stashed valuables at the bottom of their well. Because it was so hot on the day of the battle, the first thing troops did upon arriving was draw from the well. They were coming up with buckets of silverware and everything else that had been hidden down there. The Craig family lost a substantial amount on that day.
