The current Town Hall that stands at this spot was finished in 1870 and officially opened with a grand ball on the 11th of August, 1870. It replaced a much-dilapidated building that had been hurriedly built prior to the gold rush.
The building was designed by the famous architect of the time, Joseph Reed who designed many other famous buildings in Melbourne such as the Trades Hall, the State Library and the Exhibition Buildings.
On the side of the Town Hall these days is the Melbourne Visitor Hub, which is probably the best information source for anyone visiting the city to come in and learn about all the amazing things that can be done in the city of Melbourne
And of course, one of those amazing things is Geocaching
The visitor hub is open 9am to 5pm daily and now currently holds the largest and safest TB geocache in the Melbourne CBD. Head on in and you should find it easily.
