Geocache Description:

Welcome to the Ballabeg Book Cache!

The value of reading is unquestionable. And so is the fun of Geocaching, so, inspired by a cache Grumpy and Stumpy did in Zurich back in their child free days we've placed what we think might be the first "book cache" on the Isle of Man.

The concept of the cache is simple, there's books in here that you're free to take. We just ask that, if you can, you replace whatever you take with another book for someone else to enjoy.

When we placed the cache originally it contained:

  • Mortal Lies by Frank Tallis
  • The Book of Chameleons by José Eduardo Agualusa
  • Magic Ballerina: Rosa and the Magic Moonstone by Darcy Bussell

Even though the cache is an ammo tin it's a bit full now but hopefully it'll see a lot of books pass through it. While it's optional if you could please record in your log entries whatever you take or leave it would help other cachers.

The area around the cache site has lots of snowdrops and daffodils growing up through it at the moment but it quite possible to pick a path to the cache site without treading on any of them. Also, as this is in a park there may be muggles, or even mini-muggles, about to patience or stealth may be required. There's also a few jinnies and thorns about so long trousers are a good idea.

Our thanks to Arbory and Rushen Parish Commissioners for their support in the placing of this cache.

P.s. If there's another book cache already on the Island then please let us know and we'll happily link to it.
