The Town Beach
Town Beach is very popular in Port Macquarie owing to its location near the centre of town. It is a patrolled beach from September to April and has toilet and shower facilities with a car park running the length of the beach. The 600 metres long beach, curves between the southern river entrance wall and a jagged 15 metre high headland, capped by the Pilots flagstaff.
Town Beach is a favourite spot with board riders - some saying one of the best on the east coast owing to the numerous bars and protection from south winds. When the formation of the bars and tide is right the beach can hold large southeast swell. Inside the breakwater is a spot called Flagstaff, which breaks over a sand bar in larger south swells.
The Cache
Hidden amongst the rocks in a fairly easy to access spot is a 200 ml Sistema container.
