Computers haven been a part of our everyday lives. We use them daily including finding Geocaches.  Back

in the early 1980s, the Commodore 64 computer was first sold which I believe was well-ahead of its time.

I used it to play games (It only had 64K memory), word processing, and even did a little assembly language

programming. Both my parents could knew I was very interested in working on computers, so I looked up

tech jobs in the Air Force and chose to pursue that path.  Being a computer technician requires the right frame

of mind and having logical reasoning. Knowledge of computers requires broad experience and the correct tool

for the job and the military has plenty of tech training. I spent over 7 months of schooling before I had to go

to my first duty station in Omaha. My training included basic electronics for several months before moving onto

computer troubleshooting. This computer was the size of a small room, so it seemed pretty ancient even back

then. Computers were very expensive in 1989. It cost me around $700.00 for an 8088 computer while a taxi

ride cost was only a dollar. At my first duty station, I worked on then state-of-the-art 286 computers.  When

I retired after 20 years, I saw the 8088 to just before the release of the I3 CPU over that time. Truly amazing!
