Deep Water Bend is an area inside the Tinchi Tamba Wetlands. There are picnic and barbecue facilities, fishing platforms, boat and canoe ramp, self-guiding walking tracks and a bird hide at this section of the wetlands. Many years ago, at the listed coordinates, sat a geodetic survey station (QGS 665). Most of the station components have been removed BUT what remains in this location will help you find the final coordinates for this geocache. You will need to find a recovery disk sitting next to a fig tree and the original reference tree, a gum. What you seek is close to the listed coordinates. The following survey notes give you all the information you need to find both points.
November 1983

July 2001

To locate the geocache,
Collect numbers on the Permanent Survey Mark (QGS 665 RD), ABCDE
Find the Original Reference Tree (an old Gum) where you will see a good condition reference blaze.

Imagine standing where the image was taken, behind you are two old wooden fence posts.
Place your GPS on one of the posts and note the coordinates.
The cache
(A-B) (A+E) (B+E) (A-B) m
(C-E) (E) (B+E) °
You will end up close to a tree that your inner child will love to climb.
The cache is safe when the wetland floods.
This area at times can have vicious moquitoes.
Do not underestimate this. Come prepared.
