Geocache Description:

Don Mackel was the first microbiologist in the Epidemic Intelligence Service, or "EIS" (1953) and had a reputation for his sleuthing and work in the realm of Epidemics and world-wide health challenges.

There is an Award in his name because of his work called the "Donald C. Mackel Memorial Award, and is presented to those who are recognized as best exemplifying the effective application of a combined epidemiology and laboratory approach to an investigation or study.

Don later became a local politician, Mayor, and Public Official.  His career in politics took him around the world and later he was appointed International Ambassador of Foreign Affairs etween the localities of Huron Church and Fort Jefferson.

He was well liked and as member of his own unique party, it sometimes led to controversy about many things including the "Great Lamp Post Skirt" incident of 2001, which is a very hush-hush and non-public discussion with the exception of very few individuals.

He remained at his appointment and has taken a leave of absence of late, but may return sometime to the public forum once again if he is able to do so.

He has many satellite offices around to allow for his business to be conducted properly.
