"Fear of the dark" ist der Name eines Albums und einer Single der britischen Heavy-Metal-Band Iron Maiden. Der Song gehört zu den Klassikern der Band und hat ein enormes Live-Potential: Die Fans singen das instrumentale Intro jeweils inbrünstig mit (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6PDMtqejNfs).
Das Album wurde 1992 veröffentlicht, die Single-Auskopplung mit einer Live-Version von "Fear of the dark" (A-Seite) folgte 1993 im Rahmen der Tournee zum Live-Album "A real life one". "Fear of the dark" ist zudem das letzte Album mit Sänger Bruce Dickinson, bevor dieser die Band verliess und erst 2000 für das Album "Brave new world" zurückkehrte.
Der Song passt perfekt in einen nächtlichen Wald, da dann die Bäume und Äste zu bizarren Schatten werden - und man glaubt plötzlich Monster zu erkennen. Eddie, das Maskottchen der Band, ist ein solches Monster und wächst auf dem Cover des Albums aus einem Baum heraus.

"Fear of the dark" is the name of an album and a single by the British heavy metal band Iron Maiden. The song is one of the band's classics and has enormous live potential: the fans always sing along fervently to the instrumental intro (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6PDMtqejNfs).
The album was released in 1992, the single release with a live version of "Fear of the dark" (A-side) followed in 1993 as part of the tour for the live album "A real life one". "Fear of the dark" is also the last album with singer Bruce Dickinson before he left the band and only returned in 2000 for the album "Brave new world".
