A nice walk through a forest strewn with glacial features.
This first cache for TEAM SDP is located in the F. Gilbert Hills State Forest in Foxboro, Massachusetts. This is a beautiful place for a family to walk or hike, and there are lots of quiet trails, though one must keep an eye out for speeding mountain bikes on the main trails. If you bring a dog, please keep him/her leashed! As you explore the trails, you will encounter many large boulders and cobbles. These are called glacial erratics because they are not composed of local bedrock. They originated from the province of Labrador in Canada and were carried here by glaciers during the last ice age. While in the forest you will see several stone walls, which were assembled from the smaller, more plentiful erratics by early farmers. Park in the small paved parking lot adjacent to the fire services buildings.
