Not far away from the GZ stood the Sai Kung Theatre. It opened to business on 26th September 1958 and showed selected films until its closure in the mid-1970s. It was a stalls only auditorium located on the ground floor of the theatre building. After its closure, the auditorium was converted into a restaurant. The theatre building has been refurbished as shops recently.
