A great, steadily uphill hike, offering great views of the Central Coast.
This cache is stashed in a rock piling about 1/2 mile south of the Cerro Alto summit. Cerro Alto is located about half way between Atascadero and Morro Bay, California in the Los Padres National Forest. There is a "campground" sign along Highway 41 that marks the parking and campground area. Unfortuneatly, you will need to park your vehicle in a US Forest Service "Fee Area." The fee for day-use parking is $5 or you obtain an "Adventure Pass" or a Golden Eagle Pass or a National Parks Pass with a Golden Eagle Hologram. You can also drive in close to this location from the Cuesta Grade summit and take the dirt road toward the cache. I suggest you have a good pair of hiking boots and some hiking poles as the rocky trail up to the cache can be very difficult, especially on the way down. I believe you will find the hike, views of the area and cache well worth the effort.
The cache consists of:
Notebook and pen
Neck lanyard
Croakie
Carabiner
Key Chain (2)
Sweet Basil Seeds
Golf Ball
Antenna Ball
Screwdriver
