Geocache Description:

The waters of the river that runs through the center of the city has been bringing people to its life-giving banks for thousands of years. It's a big part of the identity of San Antonio and now from a partnership between the Texas Water Foundation and San Antonio Water System, a mural was commissioned in tribute to San Antonio's water history.

The piece is titled "Yanaguana Rain Dream" to pay homage to the river's indigenous roots, the Payaya name for their village at the river. The mural's painting was a family affair, painted by Cruz Ortiz, his wife Olivia, and their 4 children. A family friend and art student, Luna Gonima, also contributed to the work. Cruz Ortiz is one of the artists who began the revival of mural art in the 1990s and for this mural Ortiz said he was inspired by West Texas' rock art style.

This mural is the second in a state-wide campaign to raise awareness to its growing need for water supplies. You can learn more about it at the Texas Runs on Water page.

This is a log-only cache to bring you to this lovely mural, so BYOP. No pen or pencil, so be sure to have one on you. No sign, no find.

Don't be afraid to log a DNF with our caches. It helps us maintain and keep them available for others who come after. Happy caching!
