The City of Nitro has been putting great effort into expanding Ridenour Lake Park, building new walking bridges and picnic shelters, and cutting new trails for hikers and mountain bikers. Come on out and enjoy these trails!
The best way to approach this cache is from the Rock Grotto Trail. I hid this cache over a year ago and completely forgot about it. When I was at the lake today and walked by this spot, it dawned on me that I had hidden a cache here. The container was still in place, and someone had actually signed the log despite the cache never being listed online. I guess they thought it was a good hiding spot too.
There are ticks, snakes, raccoons, and other nasty critters that bite in the park. I'd recommend using a stick to poke around before reaching in to grab this cache. Cache is a medium plastic container.
Permission has been given to hide caches at the park. The City of Nitro and Mayor Casebolt support and encourage geocaching and other healthy, outdoor activities that bring people out to Ridenour Lake Park.
