It's springtime (or just about!) and we couldn't think of a better way to kick off the warmer weather than hosting our first event! A Potluck for all Geocachers able to attend and Geocaching 101 for any new or fairly new Geocachers!
11am - noon: Geocaching 101
Noon - 2pm: Geocacher Potluck
Feel free to check out some of our area Caches at any point, there are currently 15 within walking distance from the potluck at the time of writing this, but many more in the surrounding area!
Geocaching 101:
Geocaching 101 is a class that will teach new and fairly new Geocachers the basic fundamentals of Geocaching. It consists of a large display which includes examples of the various size and types of containers you may find. Also covered is the history, terminology and acronyms associated with Geocaching. Using the GPS technology on your phone to find coordinates is also discussed. Following the class we will walk or caravan to local Geocaches in the area. Please download the free app Geocaching.com on your phone prior to attending this session. Bug spray is also recommended.
Geocacher Potluck:
This is open to any Geocachers able to attend regardless of experience level! Please bring a dish to pass and your own beverage. Plates, plasticware, and napkins will be provided. ***Please write how many will be attending with you on the log so we know approximately how many plates and utensils will be needed.***
Come join us to mingle and share stores with other Geocachers and do some area Geocaching afterwards if you would like and of course eat! You are welcome to come for both the 101 and Potluck or just one or the other. There is also a nice playground close to the pavillion for any children attending to enjoy! We hope to see you there!
Be sure to check the weather and dress appropriately for the weather that day as this event will be held outside under the large Purdy Park Pavillion rain or shine.
This event is sponsored in part by the Village of Orfordville Community Engagement Committee.
