Since there were more historical plaques and information signs than were used in An Historic Superstar, I thought I'd bring cachers to some of the other locations for more background on Benjamin Banneker. There are 4 locations to visit. At each location, I'll ask you to record a number to help figure out where the final cache is.
1. Banneker Rain Garden. From the museum door, there is a covered walkway extending straight out from the back of the building. The cover is held up by posts. Only looking at the section that covers the walkway (not the section that runs along the back of the building), how many vertical posts do you see? The answer is 2 digits. Let AB stand for those 2 digits.
2. The Stone Farmhouse. After reading the sign, walk around toward the front of the house. There is a row of windows in the top floor. These windows are very close to square. How many do you see? The answer is 1 digit. Let C stand for that digit.
3. Banneker's Orchard. How many pear sprouts did he plant when he was 67? The answer is 3 digits. Call it YYY. Let DEF stand for those 3 digits.
4. Banneker's Cabin. Go around to the back of the cabin where the shuttered window is. How many white (or nearly white) horizontal boards do you see? The answer is 1 digit. Let G stand for that digit.
