Robert John Maudsley (06/26/1953) is an English Serial Killer who killed 4 people with one of the killings taking place in a psychiatric hospital and two in prison after his life sentence was given. False reports said that he ate part of a brain in prison and that earned him the nickname "Hannibal the Cannibal" and "The Brain Eater." Maudsley is the longest serving British Prisoner in solitary confinement. Maudsley was one of 12 children. He spent his childhood in a Catholic orphanage. At 8 he was gotten back by his biological parents and he was routinely abused and raped by his father. Social Service removed him eventually. Maudsley worked as a teenager as a sex worker in London using what money he made to support his drug habit. He was forced to seek psychiatric help after several suicide attempts. When he met with doctors he said that he heard voices telling him to kill his parents. Maudsley in 1974 was picked up while doing sex work by John Farrell. Farrell showed him photos of children he had sexually abused. Maudsley killed him and surrendered himself to police saying he needed help. He was said unfit to stand trial so he was sent to Broudmoor Hospital. While there, he and another resident locked themselves in a cell with another patient, David Francis, who was a convicted child molester. The two men attacked and tortured him to death over 9 hours. When he was sent to prison he killed two more men, but he had 7 men on his list to kill. Maudsley stated that his victims were all rapists, pedophiles or sex offenders. In 1983, Maudsley was deemed to dangerous for normal population and the prison built a two-cell unit in the basement of Wakefield Prison. The cells have large bulletproof windows through which he can be observed. The only thing in the cell is a table and chair made of cardboard. the lavatory and basin are bolted to the floor while the bed is a concrete slab. There is a small slot where food and items are given to him.
