Geocache Description:

For a general description on the series please refer to the text for the 'Two Trails: 1'

You are looking for a cameo bison.

Shortly after finding this cache you will be entering the area of the Kymin owned by the National Trust. There are a number of short walks that can be undertaken here, including some fine views and it is a popular area to visit, so this cache can be done either as part of this 'Two Trails' circuit or just during a visit to the Kymin.

Take a look at the Naval Temple: inspired by Britain's naval supremacy at the height of the British Empire, it was built by public subscription in 1800, in recognition of the British Navy and 16 Admirals in particular, who had delivered significant victories in major sea battles.

Completed in 1801, it was visited the following year by Lord Nelson, with Lady Hamilton and Sir William Hamilton.

It fell into disrepair during the middle of the C19 and attempts were made to restore it in 1882. In 1902 the Kymin was given to the National Trust and in 1987 the building underwent a major restoration. Then in 2012 the National Trust undertook a £85,000 project to restore the Naval Temple following serious damage as a result of severe weather during the preceeding two winters.
