...the tower was built by mountaineers, nature lovers from the "Oesterreicherischer Touristen Club", during the reign of the Austro-Hungarian Monarchy...
...after the declaration of the Učka mountain massif and part of Ćićarija as the Učka Nature Park, the tower on Vojak became its symbol, as well as the most visited locality...
The tower was built because of the unique and beautiful 360o view that from the top of Učka extends over the entire Kvarner Bay, Istria, the mountains of Gorski kotar, Velebit, the Gulf of Trieste, the Italian Dolomites and the southeastern Alps, and in fine and clear weather the view even reaches Venice .
The view from Vojak leaves visitors breathless, and it is no wonder that it is considered one of the most beautiful viewpoints in Croatia.
In its 100 years of life, the tower changed many functions. During the First World War, it was in the function of the Austro-Hungarian naval observatory.
