越秀山历史上有两个炮台，本cache所在地为圆炮台遗址，另一炮台为四方炮台，有cache GC9W895。
Yuexiu Shan historically had two batteries, the location of the present cache is the site of the Round Battery and the other battery is the Four Square Battery (cache GC9W895).
圆炮台即耆定台。在第一次鸦片战争中被毁，旋即修复。第二次鸦片战争中再遭破坏，同治三年（1864年）修复，后改建为西式炮台，现只剩地基。
