El Parque de las Novias

Esta pequeña isla escondida en medio de la jungla de concreto recibe el nombre de "El Parque de las Novias". Se trata de un espacio lleno de vegetación densa que parece crecer en todas partes, creando espacios interesantes y salvajes que parecen aislarte del resto de la ciudad. Por esto último es que al parque también se le conoce como "El Parque de los Novios", ya que es común encontrar a varias parejitas escondidas entre los diferentes rincones que surgen entre la vegetación. Sin embargo, su nombre oficial se debe a las novias, futuras novias y quinceañeras de la colonia aledaña que vienen a tomarse fotos en el bello ahuehuete que se encuentra frente a la entrada.

Si bien el lugar recibe la denominación de "parque" en su nombre, la vegetación es tan densa que previamente se le llegó a conocer como el "Bosque de Francisco Martínez de la Vega", periodista muy famoso que llegó a ser gobernador de San Luis Potosí, cuyo busto se encuentra cerca de la entrada frente al ahuehuete. También hubo una época en que este espacio se conoció como el "Bosque de Luis Murillo". Sea un bosque o no, la vegetación se mezcla con la roca volcánica, mostrándonos un paisaje clásico del Pedregal.

Si bien el lugar esta un poco descuidado, tiene un cierto encanto entre sus senderos, el puente colgante y los muchos gatos que se encuentran dentro de él. Me pregunto ¿Cuántas parejitas encontrarás antes de ubicar el cache? ¿Encontrarás más parejitas o gatos?

Consideraciones:

• El parque abre todos los días en un horario de 7:00 a 18:00.
• Hay varios gatos rondando el parque. Algunos son amistosos, otros tímidos. No los molestes si ellos no se acercan a ti.

The Park of the Brides

This small island hidden in the middle of the concrete jungle receives the name of "El Parque de las Novias" (The Park of the Brides). It's a space full of thick vegetation that appears to grow everywhere, creating interesting and wild spaces that appear to isolate you from the rest of the city. Because of this the park also recieves the name of "El Parque de los Novios" (The Couple's Park), because it's common to find couples hidden in the different nooks formed by said vegetation. However, it's official name comes from the girlfriends, future brides and quinceañeras of the adjacent borough that come to take pictures at the beautiful ahuehuete (type of tree) that stands in front of the entrance.

Even though the place receives the denomination of "park" in it's name, the vegetation can be so dense that previously it was known as "Francisco Martínez Vega's Forest", because of a renown journalist that even became governor of San Luis Potosí, whose bust stands close to the entrance, in front of the ahuehuete. There was also a time when this space was known as "Luis Murillo's Forest". Be a forest or no, the vegetation mixes with the volcanic stone, presenting us with a classic Pedregal's landscape.

Even though the place is a bit neglected, it's paths, hanging bridge and the many cats located inside give it a certain charm. I wonder ¿How many couples will you find before spotting the cache? ¿Will you find more couples of cats?

Considerations:

• The park opens every day from 7:00 to 18:00.
• There are multiple cats walking around the park. Some are friendly, some are shy. Don't bother them unless they approach you.
