Some people celebrate National Eight Track Tape Day on April 11. I am not one of those, because I haven't owned an 8-track cassette since the 80's. That is when I owned a 2-XL robot.
The 2-XL Robot was an educational toy robot that was marketed in the late 1970's] by the Mego Corporation, and name comes from the phrase "To Excel." It was the first "smart-toy" in that it exhibited rudimentary intelligence, memory, gameplay, and responsiveness. The 2-XL robot was infused with a "personality" that kept us kids focused as we interacted with the verbal robot. The toy was voice capable, was able to tell stories, and sing using its special 8-track tapes. These tapes asked multiple-choice questions that were then answered by pushing a YES or NO button that changed the tracking of the tape.
I will see you at the outside tables (the one with the fire hopefully) at 3rd Base Pizza & Frozen Custard at 5:30 PM. There are 2 or 3 parking spots at the restaurant, but there is available street parking not far, and if needed there is a lot down by the river. There will probably not be any 8-Track Cassettes to listen to or any 2-XL robots to play with at the event. That said, you don't have to purchase food to attend!
About this Passing Time series of events:
Have you ever felt like all you do is sit around waiting for your kids to get out of one practice or another? Remember that feeling of being constantly stuck wasting precious time that could be spent more productively otherwise? Sneaky_Molly is now taking night a 2 hour Tuesday night Art class. So since I can't hang out there, and since I don’t have enough time to go home and get anything done I am going to host a geocaching event.
The Heart of the idea of having these events was for me to reach out to as many new venues as I could and see if I could get permission to host a geocaching event. So join me on my quest to try different things and keep it fresh.
