Cache In Trash Out® (CITO) is an environmental initiative supported by the geocaching community. Since 2002, CITO has enabled geocachers to beautify and restore natural and urban spaces. In that time, there have been more than 536,000 logged attendances at nearly 29,000 events where geocachers helped improve the outdoors.
Actions often speak louder than words. By participating in a CITO Event, whether by collecting trash, planting trees, or crafting new homes for pollinators, we make our world a better place. Each CITO we attend is a testament to care: care for others, our communities, and our planet.
CITO Events can be a safe, socially distant way to gather that adheres to your local laws and health guidance for outdoor activities. As with all outdoor activities, please follow the most current regulations from public health authorities.

Where: Glas-na-Braden Wood, Newtownabbey
When: 13:00-15:00, Saturday 25th March 2023
Why: To help The Woodland Trust achieve their goal of planting 25,000 trees this season
Your Task: To plant a variety of 30 tree saplings in the time frame
What to bring: Warm and waterproof clothing, water, strong footwear, gardening gloves (optional). There are a limited number of spades available, I will also bring some but if you have your own then please do so
Take 2!
Due to snow and frozen ground this event on 11 MAR 2023 had to be postponed, but I'm sure you'll be glad to hear that it's now been rearranged!
This event is in partnership with The Woodland Trust so spaces in the time slot are limited. As this is a shared public event I have provisionally booked 25 spaces (maybe this is wishful thinking???) so please state in your Attendance Log how many people will be attending. There is a bit of leeway in having more than 25 but you will have to bring your own spade (or use one of my spares)!
We will be setting off from the carpark (Waypoint coords given) at 13:00. There is an uphill, gravel pathed walk to the tree planting site which takes between 30-40 mins. I would say this walk is T2.5 but with the uneven ground at the site I have made it a T3.0. If you arrive after the starting time there is only one way up and it is sign posted so you will eventually make your way to the group. Hope to see you there!
Dogs are allowed but they must be kept on a lead and any mess cleaned up💩
Please note: The event may be postponed due to inclement weather (as we well know). This decision will be made by The Woodland Trust and I will feedback to you.
Warmest regards
