A puzzle cache hidden in the Ogden Bay Waterfowl Management Area (WMA) around the Weber River Delta on Pi Day.
Where the cache is located is open for non-motorized access year round. However, much of the rest of the WMA is closed for nesting season: March 1 - August 1, or April 1 - September 1, depending on areas. Pay attention to the signs and do not enter those areas during those times.
The cache is not at the posted coordinates
This puzzle cache was hidden in the WMA around the Weber River Delta for Pi Day (3/14). I liked the two Greek letters together, so that's why I called this cache "Delta Pi 2023".
Delta Pi 2023: The Three Cheeses
A few years ago I called the trio of ratwaffles, Nezzmuk and Cheda "The Rat Pack". They didn't want to be called that, nor "The Rat Patrol". I asked them what they would rather be called. "The Three Cheeses" was the reply. I forget who suggested this, but it may very well have been Cheda.
About two years latter, in 2019, I came up with the idea of making a Delta Pi puzzle based on this. However, some other ideas came up that I just couldn't put off doing. I hope that you have enjoyed them. I am not lacking other ideas to do these puzzles, but it is finally time for this one.
The Three Cheeses in this puzzle are Jarlsberg, Leerdammer and Maasdam. I will leave it to you to decide who is which cheese. I made a point of including all Three Cheeses.

You can validate your puzzle solution with certitude.
Park at one of the two posted parking coordinates. During nesting season (see above) you will need to park at the northern parking coordinates. Pay attention to the signs indicating areas that are closed. This cache is in an area that is accessible year round for non-motorized access.
Hunting happens during waterfowl season, in the fall. Motorized vehicles are allowed only during this time. No wading is necessary, as long as you find the correct route, but I wouldn't wear dress shoes.
This is the fourteenth anniversary of the designation of Official designation of Pi Day by the U.S. House of Representatives.
As an aside, this is also the birthdays of Albert Einstein and Billy Crystal.
This very day is also, unfortunately, the very day that Stephen Hawking died, in 2018.
Because the Utah Department of Natural Resources closes much more of the Ogden Bay Wildlife Management Area during the time of year when this cache was placed, there are very limited locations to place caches. I will keep going as long as I can in placing caches here. This one is is in a legal location though.
In general there are NO DOGS ALLOWED. However, Dogs are allowed during hunting season, so you can bring them along during that time. You can also get within sight of the cache location with a wheelchair or stroller during hunting season, when the gate is open. There is a pedestrian access around the gate, so if you can lift your equipment and person over the gate (as I did with my bicycle) then you can get near the cache location with a wheelchair or stroller. Children and pets can certainly get to the location, but because of the wide (for Utah) river in the area you will want to hold tightly or even not bring them.
Attention: As of May 2025, this waterfowl management area now requires an active hunting or fishing license to enter.
