A MULTI IN THE CENTRE OF KINGUSSIE THAT TAKES YOU ON AN INTERESTING 1.3 MILES WALK ALONG 'THE GYNACK MILL TRAIL', PAST 4 NOTICEBOARDS ON WHICH YOU WILL FIND THE INFORMATION NEEDED TO REVEAL THE FINAL CO-ORDINATES. IT GOES THROUGH WOODS ON GOOD PATHS & ALONG QUIET ROADS AND THE WHOLE THING SHOULD TAKE MOST CACHERS NO LONGER THAN 1 HOUR.
Kingussie is a fine little town just off the A9 that sits along The Speyside Way, with a railway station, shops, hotels & an information centre, from which you might be able to pick up leaflets "Kingussie Paths" and "Gynack Mill Trail" - the map below is from this last leaflet. Parking is available just off the High Street at The Ardvorie Car Park (the listing co-ordinates) or you could use The Duke of Gordon Hotel's if you buy a wee dram there.
When I stopped there I had no intention of creating any sort of geocache but was surprised by the lack of caches of any sort really close to the town and then when I discovered the lovely little walk, it seemed to be crying out for a multicache! Hopefully this one will enable tourists to discover some interesting history, delightful scenery and maybe something interesting to purchase in the local shops. I always carry some sheets of waterproof log paper in my wallet so all I had to do was find something suitable to use as a container. I soon came across a wide-mouthed plastic drink bottle into which I could put a stoppered tube I had in my shaving bag and some of the words on these items account for half the words in the cache title. The others are the name of the river you'll be walking beside and the name of the Duke who planned the new town of Kingussie. Besides the logroll the cache also contains a small monetary reward for the FTF and a folded copy of the Gynack Trail leaflet
In late 2024 this container seems to have gone missing and Burton very kindly put a new small clip lock box in the hiding place at the final co-ordinates. My grateful thanks for your help.
