Trees are an integral part of the ecosystem, and are very important here because of the moisture they draw from the soil. With a rising water table it is critical to preserve the ability of trees to transpire as much moisture as possible, moving water from the soil to the atmosphere.
If you are properly prepared, it is a great beach to drive on, you can get clear to Seaview to exit, or to Beard's Hollow for some sight seeing. Don't forge ahead if you don't know how to drive on sand, haven't checked out how soft the approach is. A tow job up here is pretty expensive, and might not come in time if the tide is rising and you are in an unfortunate location.
