Aside from finding caches, hiding caches may be the most fundamental aspect of the game. But what makes a good hide? Well, a lot goes into it. There is the question of where to place the hide, what kind of container to use, baggie or no baggie (this one can be controversial), should it be a puzzle or a traditional, etc. There are also lots of rules (some universal and some specific to certain areas like parks and neighborhoods) to consider. And, finally, you need to ensure that your hide is placed in such a way that it can endure for at least a few years. Hiding caches can be stressful, but it's essential for the game to continue!
This event is about all things hiding related. We'll discuss best practices, dos and do nots, and rules to consider. If there are attendees who have never placed a cache before, we can go over how to navigate the publication process, writing reviewer notes, obtaining landowner permissions, and answer any questions folks may have. We can also regale each other with stories of the best hides we've found. Most importantly, we'll spend the evening talking about caching and sharing one another's company!
