This is my attempt to resurrect a cache that used to be on top of this fell, although it is a different location.
At 1271 feet, or 338 metres in new money, this is one of the smaller fells to win a place in AWs magnum opus, a Pictorial Guide to the Lakeland Fells, however to gently paraphrase the man himself;
"Hallin Fell is beautifully situated ovelooking a curve in Ullswater, and commands unrivalled views of the lovely secluded Martindale"
Every word of that is true, its a proper little slice of heaven.
I'd start your search about 10m from the summit obelisk down the path, a few paces off towards Ullswater.
