Native Americans who lived in the region named the river
Quee-ya-paw because of the tobacco that grew along its banks.
Fur trappers, however, took a much simpler approach and named the
river Bear River because of the large number of bears in the
area. Indians and trappers often held rendezvous in this
area, including one in 1825 near Burntfork, just 50 miles southeast
of here.
This 300 acre park was established in 1991, and its main
attractions are the many hiking trails where buffalo and elk are
frequently seen. In the winter, enjoy cross-country skiing
and numerous ski trails. Bear River State Park offers ideal
areas for picnicking, hiking, wildlife viewing, group activities,
bicycling, skiing, rollerblading, remote control cars and many
other activities. The park is available for day use only.

Best parking is in the last parking lot past the bison and past the
elk.
This is a medium Tupperware container.
Note -- it is not necessary to make any volunteer trails to this
cache. There are clearly defined trails up to the cache.
It is in a dry place, but be careful not to slip into the Bear
River as the nearby ground may be wet and there is a steep place
near the cache.
You will not need to go into the river nor onto nearby private land
nor under the bridge where it says "No Trespassing".
