Rick Nielsen Runs Out Of Gas in NJ: Refuses To Stop at Jon Bon Jovi RcArea

Cheap Trick guitarist Rick Nielsen ran out of gas in NJ today because he refused to stop at the Jon Bon Jovi service area.

Nielsen was traveling from New York City to Atlantic City along the Garden State Parkway. “I was cruising down the highway” said Nielsen “Just listening to some tunes. I listen to nothing but Christmas songs this time of year. Anyway, the gas sensor is beeping away and glowing red like Rudolph’s nose. Up ahead is a sign for gas and food at the service area or rest area, whatever you call it.”

“I start pulling off then I see the sign says, ‘Jon Bon Jovi’. I slam on the brakes and cut the wheel back across three lanes of traffic. We cut off a commuter bus, my wife is screaming. We almost die but it was well worth it. I hate that sniveling little creep Bon Jovi. I would gladly run out of gas and go on the side of the road before I use any facility with his name on it. I would gladly wander around and freeze in the woods like Christopher & Paulie on The Sopranos before I stop at a JBJ toilet.”

Well, Nielsen got his wish as he ran out of gas just 2 miles short of the next rest area. “I was going good” said Nielsen. “Cruising along, riding on fumes for ten miles. I thought I was going to make it then she started sputtering and she finally gave out about 2 miles short. What can you do except get out with your gas can and start hoofing it. About half a mile down the road I stopped to go on the side of the road Finally I made it and got my gas. On the way back a nice family of migrant workers gave me a ride in the back of their pickup truck. It was cold but I made it.”

Nielsen refueled and made his way successfully to Atlantic City. “I made sure I had a full tank for the ride back. Why in gods name would you name anything after Bon Jovi. Why not name it after Danny Devito or Jack Nicholson or after a great NJ band, The Smithereens? I heard Tiger Woods once crashed his car frantically trying to turn the radio station when Bon Jovi came on. That I can understand

Thought I’d share a funny story that happened to Us set up this hide 

I was out looking for a spot for our first hide,  (with DebbieBoo) 
Thinking that a parking grab would be the easiest for us to do so we can figure out The procedures that are involved in hiding in cache . So we head for a park and ride (GSP NJ )  that we are very familiar with and we find a light pole That looks like it’s going to be the perfect hide.   I parked the car walk over and place my cell phone at the base of the pole to get the coordinates using a coordinates averager ,When placing my phone a minivan drives by slows down and gives me a funny look then  parked about 10 parking spaces away and just sits there. I’d let  the phone sit there for about 15  minutes The ban drives away I take a quick drive around the parking lot and don’t see the van anymore go back and get my phone start to drive out of the parking lot in the van is now up my butt So I pulled into the next parking lot figuring I would explain to the person what i was doing as I pull into the parking space red and blue lights light up on the dashboard in the van behind me I start to get out of the car And the driver of the van yells “get back in the car”.  So now I’m sitting there with my hand on the dashboard waiting for them to come over when he does I explain to him that I was playing a game that uses GPS the find stuff  He goes oh my aunt and uncle do that it’s geocaching.  But that was after he had called  for back up  After talking with us for a few minutes  He told us it would be a good place to hide one and told us to enjoy the rest of out day geocaching
