Muiravonside Parish Church

Muirvonside is the most easterly parish in Stirlingshire and as its name suggests is bounded by the River Avon on the South, East and North. Although the parish is rural, it is mainly visited by the inhabitants of the nearby villages, Whitecross and Maddiston.
Originally Muiravonside Parish was in Falkirk but on 10th June 1648, they disjoined from Falkirk Parish. This is when Muiravonside Parish Church was founded.
In 1804, the current church and manse was built on the same site of the previous building. The belfray of this church is older than the church itself and the bell is inscribed with the date 1699.
Due to woodworm and dry rot, a complete internal renovation was necessary in 1947 and a new vestibule with vestry and session house was added.
The church now seats 400 people and the most attractive feature is the beautiful stained glass windows commemorating the ministry of Rev George Keith M.A., B.D. Minister at Muiravonside between 1871-1884.
Surrounding the church is a cemetery with the earliest stone in the cemetery depicting 1705.
The Cache
Although this cache is a part of the Church Micro series, this was purely accidental. We chose this location in memory of our beloved dog, Max.

Max was a black labrador and we rescued him when he was 8 years old. He was an amazing dog and he loved nothing more than going for long walks. One of his favourite walks was along the canal. We had Max for 8 years before unfortunately he went to doggy heaven. We scattered his ashes at this point in the canal, so he could forever enjoy walking along the canal.
Congratulations to wee-z on first to find
