Bute Community Forest Geocache
This bunker was built during World War II and is one of three bunkers on the island as part of Opperation Starfish. From these bunkers a series of controlled fires and lights could illuminate the uninhabited north end of the island to look like a village that had already been bombed. The idea was that German bombers that had travelled up the west coast and heading for Glasgow might think they were closer to their major city and dump their payload here instead.
