Geocache Description:

Welcome to my Auckland Tourist Caches series! These are a series of caches around Auckland, that are all easy to get to and find, and can be completed without taking up too much time!

The caches are accessible 24/7 and won’t require problem solving or too much hunting. The hint will tell you exactly where it is, as well as the container type, so you can quickly check it off and get back to sightseeing!

I would love to know what has brought you to Auckland, and where you are visits from, be it near or far, so please let me know in your log!

The idea for this series came from Calypso62s ‘Totally Findable Tourist Cache Sydney’ Series, so all credits to him!

Welcome to Queens Wharf and Aucklands Premier 'Temporary' Waterfront venue! Built for the Rugby World cup in 2011... its still here! It cost 7.9 million to build, and can host up to 6,000 people.

The venue's location and construction was at times controversial, being nicknamed 'The Slug' by those against it. The work around The Cloud (construction $9.8 million) and Shed 10 (repairs for around $4 million) also included structural repairs to the wharf's piling, as well as significant installation of new services, including power and data cabling, water and wastewater lines, with most of the utilities fastened to the underside of the wharf.

As of late 2012, the consensus is that the building will remain on the wharf at least for the medium term, used as an event venue.

The cache is big enough for small swappables and trackables. BYOP.
