Geocache Description:
The Johnston County Heritage GeoTrail is a series of 50 caches placed throughout Johnston County’s 11 municipalities by the Johnston County Visitors Bureau. Each container is either a small lock n lock container or if a multi-stage cache the final is a large green bison tube.
All caches were placed with the permission of owner or manager.
Through the JCHGT you will explore some of the county's best tourist spots, museums, historical sites, and more as you find caches. Remember to record the code word located on the lid of the caches on your passport.
The passport can be picked up at the Johnston County Visitors Bureau
234 Venture Drive, Smithfield, NC 27577
The JCVB is open M-F 8AM to 5 PM.
Once you have recorded all 50 code words on your passport – return it to the Visitors Bureau for your geocoin.
The Ava Gardner Museum is home to an extensive collection of Ava Gardner memorabilia. Each object in the museum was either owned by Ava Gardner or her family, used in her films or had a special meaning or relationship to Ava.
On exhibit are costumes, movie posters and awards that represent Ava’s 50-year career as a leading Hollywood actress. The Museum also houses a collection of personal items of china, jewelry, clothing and fine art, including 40 portraits by Bert Pfeiffer, an artist whose collection was donated to the museum in 2001.
