Tokyo Regional Immigration Bureau (東京出入国在留管理局) in Shinagawa is the place to go if you are a foreign national living in Tokyo who wants to do one of the following:
- Extend or change your visa
- Get permission to work
- Update your resident card
- Get permission to leave Japan for more than a year
- Apply for permanent resisdency
- Get consultation for visa related problems
Even though some of the procedures can recently be done online, the waiting time at the immigration office is still extremely long and allows for plenty of time to go Geocaching. Probably long enough to complete a power trail, so maybe somebody else wants to place more caches around here.
PS: If you want to feel like being in a foreign country, you could either take the bus "品99" to/from Shinagawa station or visit the convenience store inside the immigration office.
