Geocache Description:

This is Hide #03 of a series of very family friendly caches known as "Little Green Treasures."  The title to these refer to special little green spaces in and around Columbia that are easy for families to access and might have even been “hidden” just over in the neighborhood right near yours for years, but you somehow never noticed it was there.  Places like this, often that I found when my kids were little, hold a special place in my heart. Hoping to share their existence now with young and old alike!  Places to relax a bit, get some fresh air, bring your kids and dogs… little special places to reward your sense of discovery, and hopefully even succeed at finding a fun cache to leave your mark, and be able to stumble upon some kid and adult-friendly swag to put a smile on your face! :)  So bring something small to trade, some decent shoes...  little or no bushwhacking required on these gems :)

Sterling W. Wyatt Park:  This park includes a small parking lot, right along the edge of Old (Hwy) 63.  It’s an often-overlooked place made to honor veterans, and in particular, Sterling Wyatt. It is kept up beautifully and includes a large stone picnic table, a wooden bench to relax on, and a handicapped-accessible paved walkway to the picnic table, and onward down a memorial path for all veterans to be honored.  A large American flag is raised above it all, and can be seen as you drive up near it.  It also has a large, detailed plaque about the history of Columbia, Missouri.

It’s a wonderful place to stop off and take a rest break at-right here in town-but easy to access and find.  From off of I-70, take the Stadium Blvd Exit, then turn right onto Old 63.  It also overlooks a large scenic, mostly wooded area of land of the University of Columbia (MU). If you’re here in town visiting after you find the cache, there are a number of restaurants and stores, including grocery, if you just continue up Old 63, then turn right at the light onto E. Broadway (or turn left here if you want to go check out our iconic, fun downtown area, also with many unique attractions, boutiques and famous local eateries).

This cache is completely handicapped-accessible to reach.

Park is open 6am-11pm

Dogs allowed, but pls keep it clean and respectful for everyone, esp the veterans it is made in honor of.

This cache was placed according to the guidelines set out by the City of Columbia Parks and Recreation Department. https://www.como.gov/parksandrec/geocaching-letterboxing/
