An easy drive to the first 2 sets of coordinates
The first set of coordinates takes you to an interesting piece of history. Read about it and enjoy the park. Then move on to the second set of coordinates. They are:
45* 44.195 N
119* 11.280 W
This is where the name of the cache will start to make sense to you. There are 2 dates listed here. You need them, so write them down.
From the N coordinate at this spot, add the first date to it.(As in: 4544195 + **** = 45*****) From that number subtract 4115. This will be your new N coordinate.
From the W coordinate at this spot, add the second date to it.(As in:11911280 + **** = 119*****) From that number subtract 5336. This will be your new W coordinate.
Your new coordinates will take you to the actual cache site. The cache is hidden in an ammo can just a short walk from where you will park.
Claim your prize and enjoy another piece of American history. It's hard to imagine what the settlers had to endure on their journey out west. We hope you have as much fun finding this as we did hiding it.
Watch out for the ever possible Rattlesnake. They have been spotted not far from here.
As a side note, the contents, container and logbook are from the previous cache "Kathy's Cache". Officials from the Umatilla Wildlife Refuge demanded that we discontinue geocaching on their land.
