Arguably the greatest road Wellington has ever produced.
Adelaide Road has a rich history dating back to the earliest days of the pioneers in Wellington.
Not to be confused with a certain Australian city, Adelaide Rd was named after one of the New Zealand Company's "first ships", which brought early immigrants to New Zealand. The Adelaide arrived in Wellington on March 7, 1840. It was the largest of the fleet, weighing 640 tonnes. It carried Samuel Revans, the editor of New Zealand's first newspaper, New Zealand Gazette.
Many foot soldiers frequent this area so watch out.
