This event is for one of the original Swamp Rats™, Isonzo Karst (i.e. palmetto) who left this world on January 29. She was a great friend who I had the privilege of hiking and kayaking with and is truly missed by the geocaching community.
My understanding is she came up with the 'Wild Turkey' sightings at these Swamp Rats™ events, and at later events she was known for her great tasting brownies. This event site was chosen as there are eight of her thirty-three active caches located in the area. If permission is granted by the State Forest Service, we may have a handful of new caches in place by event time.
Please come and share your memories at this event. It is a very different Swamp Rats™ event than usual and is open to everyone with all caching and hiking abilities. I hope to have a raffle or two as well.
