This cache could be call Up The Hole, too.
This cache is hidden below at the far West end of the Kootenay Canal walking trail. The hide location is on a an old road. A connecting trail to an upper level area which leads to the start of the road.
The nicest walk to the cache starts by parking by the new Disc Golf Course [N 49° 27.473 W 117° 30.235] along Blewett Road. From the gate, walk up the old road to the first field, then turn right and follow the faint trail on it's outer edge over and around [and up a bit] until you meet the road leading down to the cache. The temptation to drop down the bank once you get near the cache will be strong but resist it. Access to the cache is easy if you just keep walking until you reach the road. That's why the Terrain rating is low. You could almost bring a stroller with you.
It's also possible to stay on the road from the gate until you reach the upper field and the model airplane airport. At the far end of the landing strip a trail leads across to the road the cache is on.
A third option is to park further up Blewett Road [N 49° 27.471 W 117° 29.615] and take the Kootenay Canal walking trail. As you approach the fencing at the end of the trail watch for two trails that go off to the right. They meet up and drop down to the previously mentioned level area. The first trail you see is just a bit longer but less steep. The second one is right by the fence and drops straight down. Follow the trail to the right and when you get to a wider open area watch for the road leading down to the cache.
