Libraries are amazing places. People will dig in to books looking for the hidden truths. The secerts are locked inside beautifully designed vaults that requires a literary exporer to simply "open a door" to a new world. Much like the feeling Howard Carter got when finding King Tutt's tomb so is the feeling a reader has when finding a book with an amazing story inside.
Wait, this also sounds like geocaching, doesn't it?
Why not combine the two?
The first stage will be a black bison tube with the Location hint inside the library. The second stage is a container that is really only able to hold a log (so no swag)
