Everybody knows the story of RMS Titanic, the British passenger liner. On 14th April 1912 she stroke an iceberg during her maiden voyage. The “unsinkable” Titanic sank in the North Atlantic Ocean in the early morning hours of 15th April 1912, leaving in her wake 1,517 deaths.
This disaster happened exactly 111 years ago.
Titanic Belfast is a visitor attraction which opened in 2012. It's a monument to Belfast's maritime heritage on the site of the former shipyard where the Titanic was built. It tells the stories of the Titanic as well as her sister ships RMS Olympic and HMHS Britannic. The building contains more than 30,000 sq ft of floor space which is occupied by a series of galleries, private function rooms and community facilities.
The event will take place outside the building.
We will meet by the benches outside the museum. There will be the usual chit chat as well as TB swaps and so on. The event is free, but in order to visit the museum admission fees apply. It would be great to visit the museum with some fellow geocachers after the event (not compulsory).
Hope to see you there!
